— The Arts Center, 320 N. White St., Athens, Tenn., continues its exhibition of "The Magic of Watercolor" through Aug. 14. The exhibition features water media artworks by artists with the Eastern Tennessee chapters of the Tennessee Watercolor Society. The exhibition is free and open to the public. — Association for Visual Arts, 30 Frazier Ave., Suite A, is hosting its juried member exhibition through Sept. 8. The gallery is open noon-5 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays and noon-6 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. All works featured were judged and scored by three regional arts professionals. The works were scored based on technique, creativity, design, visual impact and professional presentation. Out of 87 local artists, 30 were selected for the exhibition. — In-Town Gallery will host an opening reception for its latest exhibition, "Creating Waves With Wax," from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the gallery, 26A Frazier Ave. The exhibition features the encaustic paintings of Margaret Park. Encaustic is an ancient artistic medium made from beeswax and damar resin, which are melted together, receive added pigment for color and are applied to a surface such as wood while still hot. — ClearStory Arts will have the opening reception for its two-year anniversary artwork exhibition from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the gallery, 1673 S. Holtzclaw Ave. The exhibition will celebrate the two-year anniversary of ClearyStory by showcasing the works of the gallery's studio and workspace artists. The reception will be in conjunction with the gallery's First Friday event, which features a mini-market and live demonstrations. The anniversary exhibition will run through Aug. 26. MUSIC

— Songbirds, 35 Station St., will have two shows this weekend. At 7 p.m. Thursday, singer-songwriters Drumming Bird and Andrew Montana will perform; tickets cost $12 in advance or $18 the day of the show. At 7 p.m. Sunday, Albert Castiglia and Gary Hoey will perform as a part of the Blood Brothers summer tour; tickets cost $25 in advance or $28 the day of the show. — Nightfall, a weekly summer music series, continues at 7 p.m. Friday at Miller Plaza, 850 Market St. The headliner will be Victor Wainwright & the Train, and the opener will be Luke Simmons & the Lovestruck. — Barrelhouse Ballroom, 1501 Long St., will host the inaugural Jerry Fest from 3 p.m.-midnight Saturday. The festival will celebrate the music of Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead and feature six bands performing music from Garcia's entire career. There will also be vendors selling a variety of goods, including hemp products, clothes, jewelry, artwork and more. Tickets cost $25 in advance or $30 the day of the show. — Riverfront Nights, a weekly concert series, continues this week at 6 p.m. Saturday at Ross's Landing, 201 Riverfront Parkway. — Tennessee's Sales Tax Holiday on groceries began Tuesday and will continue through Oct. 31. The holiday exempts food and food ingredients from the state's standard sales tax. — World's Longest Yard Sale begins Thursday and goes through Sunday. The sale spans six states and stretches nearly 700 miles long. — Chattanooga Remote Control Club will host an RC Airshow from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Summit Airfield, 4246 Old Woodland Drive. The evening will begin with swimming in the pool from 6-8 p.m., and the movie will begin in the park at dusk. — Chattanooga Margarita Festival will be from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the First Horizon Pavilion, 1801 Reggie White Blvd. Chattanooga restaurants will compete for the title of Best Margarita. The event will begin with a dinner followed by the concert, and VIP guests will be able to participate in a meet and greet with the songwriters prior to the event. — Everything is Terrible!, a video and performance art collective, will have a screening of its latest work from 7-10 p.m. Thursday at Stove Works, 1250 E. 13th St. The collective's latest, "Kidz Klub!," is a psychedelic found footage feature film. — Chattanooga Theatre Centre, 400 River St., will conclude its production of "Something Rotten" this weekend with performances at 7 p.m. Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The play follows two brothers in the 16th century as they set out to write the world's first musical to get out of their contemporary William Shakespeare's shadow.
